Baby Room (for babies from 6 months)

In September 2005 we became registered to care for babies from 6 months.

The baby room is a bright and colourful space. We have a quiet carpet area where the younger babies play. We encourage babies to experience lots of messy play including painting, water / sand play, as well as music, songs and games, and lots of stories. We visit Queens Park as often as possible. We encourage as much outdoor play as possible.

Our baby room staff are trained in the care of babies and young children to ensure continuity for the babies and toddlers, and happily we have never had a high turnover of staff.

We will complete a Daily Record Sheet for babies aged 6 months to 2 years, which will contain details of how much your baby has eaten, how long baby has slept and details of nappy changes etc. The sheet is for you to take home. As well as this, staff will be able to talk to you about your baby / toddler.

Your child will be cared for by their key worker and a buddy. This makes for a great relationship between you and your childs practitioner and improves continuity and quality of feedback. Your childs key worker will be a qualified and practitioner experienced in the care of babies and young children. Every staff member holds a current in date pediatric first aid certificate including infant resuscitation.

We use a software programme called tapestry to record your childs progress through observations and assessments which also includes photographic evidence of your child at play. You will be given a link to access this information which you can log in to online and add your own observations. This is protected by your own password.

Main Hall

Group 2 main hall for children aged 20months to 3years.

This is a fantastically large light and airy space that lends itself well to providing lots of opportunity for play and learning. We provide designated areas for all aspects of learning in EYFS. There are opportunities daily for messy play, art and craft activities, construction, role play and some lovely cosy areas for quiet play reading and resting.

With access to our outside play space for free flow play.

Foundation Stage

This is our Pre-School group for children aged 3 to rising fives and is staffed by qualified foundation stage practitioners and nursery practitioners. We have two rooms, one for role-play and the computer and one which is set out to cover all areas of early learning in the foundation stage. We have three cubical toilets upstairs

Outside Play

We have an outside play area with a soft safety surface which is suitable for all ages. There are also two large sun awnings to shade children in hot weather. We like to play outside in all weathers and children have free flow indoors and outdoors during the day. We have plenty of outside play equipment for children to enjoy and explore.

Whilst we do not prepare lunch on our premises we do have a well-equipped kitchen and supply breakfast, tea and snacks. The kitchen is thoroughly cleaned every day by a professional cleaning company and food is stored in the fridge. We have microwave ovens for any food you send in for your child. We are regularly inspected by environmental health.

Please label all pots, bottles and containers with permanent pen as we wash them before we return them to the lunchbox

Each child has their own peg for their belongings and a peg bag that is provided by us for spare clothes. Please ensure that your child has sufficient spare clothes at all times which are clearly labelled with their name.

The nursery will not accept responsibility for the loss or damage of any belongings which are unnamed.
